Metal Gear Solid: The Night PlayStation Grew Up
Plenty of PS1 games were already demonstrating what Sony’s little gray console could do with 3D worlds, cinematic presentation, and CD-quality audio. Metal Gear Solid pulled those pieces together and made the PlayStation feel like it was capable of something different—a game that could be tense, funny, melodramatic, politically charged, mechanically inventive, and completely aware that you were sitting there holding a controller.
